Reading through many of these reviews I thought I'd jump on this combo deal so I purchased it and when it arrived, I unpacked it all and was surprised at the quality.
Took them out this weekend with my son. He used the air mattress and I tried out the bag and pillow. The design of the pillow is fantastic. Unfortunately, I found it a bit firm to my liking but got used to it.
My son said the air mattress was comfortable and aired up very fast.
The sleeping bag was the biggest disappointment. It is rated for 40 degrees (we all know this means at least 50 degrees) and advertised as a three season bag. I suppose if you're in the PNW this would count as a three season but even in the winter it can get down in the 30s if you're not at elevation. It got down to 54 here in Missouri last night and I was cold in this bag. Not freezing but uncomfortable enough that I didn't sleep well. I think if you're wearing some extra layers this could be a legit three season but for me, in a lightweight wool top and bottom it didn't work out. A bummer considering the weight and size of the bag.
We'll keep it for a summer bag but was hoping it'd be a good replacement for my bulkier bag. Guess I'll keep looking at those high dollar down bags!
This combo is INCREDIBLY FANTASTIC! I am so glad I found out about River Country Products. I love that this sleeping bag is so warm, has a quiet zipper, has a drawstring at the head to really bring it in tight in the need arises, has enough room for the pad to go inside, and that the toe box is roomy enough in addition. Then, that little amazing self-inflating pillow! I thought I would find it too small, but it is actually pretty perfect! I love that it is also a pump for the sleeping pad. The pad is perfect as well, and I love that it can be tucked inside the bag or strapped on the outside bottom both. It inflates and deflates so easily and the packing away is easy-peasy and compact as well. This system is worth every penny I paid.
